"Spring Fever"

So, Spring is finally here and I'm still waiting for it to finally kick in. First, we had snow - yes, it was officially Spring. Then, we now have crazy torrential rain including flood warnings all over the state of Maryland. At least this was expected - "April showers bring May flowers." Anyway, what's not expected is for drivers to actually pay attention when we have such crazy weather. Not only do they continue to follow you closely on the highways, they speed around you with hardly enough room on the slippery roads if something were to go wrong. I still see some drivers weaving behind and in front of me because they are texting despite the state law that that specifically state "no hand held cell phone use while driving." Lately, I've seen cars end up over the guard rails and end up into a ditch or in a tree. This creates such havoc especially early in the morning when others are trying to get to work safe and sound. A friend of mine told me that ...

"Enough Already!"

If you're like me, then I would venture a guess that you've just about had enough already of...you guessed it - SNOW. These past couple of days we've been snowed in. It was amazing to watch the neighbors clean off their vehicles only to find it covered again in more snow later that day/night. Some were outside acting like snow experts guiding other neighbors out of tight spots, yet all I saw were tire spinning up more snow and folks looking frustrated. I wished I could've screamed, "Unless you're an essential employee, then sit your butt in your house and just chill!" But folks just want to say that they were out there, bragging about dealing with the snow and no doubt creating havoc out in the streets. Really, was it that serious? So you guessed it...I kept my butt at home. Enough food in the fridge, enough to watch on TV but more importantly enough time to brain storm story ideas and get some WRITING done! Needless to say, I'm optimistic about th...

"Fun and Relaxing Weekend"

Sometimes you really need to slow down, take a break and catch your breath. Anyway, this weekend I attended the mentor's meeting and had a great time with my fellow mentor friends as we planned out the remainder of the mentoring school year. It's always good to plan ahead because it gives us perspective and prepares us for any and all surprises. After the meeting, I took time to pamper me with a mani/pedicure. A few hours later, I found myself at DSW. And I guess I must have that look like I know shoes, because folks were asking me advice about boots, shoes to wear at work and what kind of shoes would match an outfit a shoe lover was going to wear in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, I was happy to oblige. I joked that maybe, just maybe I needed to get a job at DSW. Who knows, I could get a much deeper discount on my shoes other than my earned $10 certificate. Sunday, I didn't leave my home. I took time to talk to friends, do some writing and catching up on some of my favorite s...
