Deliah Lawrence: What inspired you to write your book?

Charlene Rhinehart: When the 2020 pandemic hit, I started receiving calls from family and friends who lost jobs, relationships, income, health, and all types of unfavorable situations. I started sharing tips that worked for me in the past and it helped others to transform their pain into possibilities. That was when I knew I had to share those insights with the world. I paused my “to-do” list and started writing the book. The thoughts just flowed from my head to the keyboard. It was like a download from God because I was able to write the entire book in less than 72 hours! It was my most impactful holistic book of habits yet and instantly became a #1 New Release on Amazon.

DL: How do you handle writer’s block?

CR: I move on to something else and start moving again when inspiration strikes. I always keep pen, paper, and Google Keep by my side to be able to jot down ideas on the go. In my book, I share the importance of having a “Happy List”. Whenever I’m stuck, I refer to that.

DL: What were some of the challenges when writing this book?

CR: Typically, it takes me years to write a book. But How to Find Happiness Again just flowed and the initial draft was done in less than 72 hours. The challenge was stopping my other project to write a book that had nothing to do with my investing book series. But it worked out in my favor and now this book can get people mentally ready for other opportunities. Typically, I’m overanalyzing every sentence while I write. But this time, I wrote all of my unfiltered thoughts, worked with a team of editors, and focused on the gift that this book would deliver to others.

DL: Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

CR: I loved reading The Babysitter’s Club growing up and I was a huge fan of biographies of African Americans who turned their pain into possibilities. When I was in sixth grade, I read a book every day and I have no doubt that those insights influenced who I am today.

DL: What are the keys to success in marketing your book(s)?

CR: Writing a book that others can relate to and getting book reviews from people who enjoyed the book are helpful in the marketing process. My next marketing goal is to discuss the book on various media platforms and share the power of the 30-day transformation. I tested the concepts of the book on my own life and I went from multiple rejections to unlimited blessings. The tables were turned, and I received opportunities that were beyond what I could have imagined.

I went from consistently writing on my blog to becoming an editor for a major health publication, obtaining an offer to be an Editor for Black Enterprise, landing a contract as a writer for The Motley Fool, and serving on the Financial Review Board for Investopedia and The Balance – all of this happened within 30 days of me doing the daily work in this book. It proves that simple moves can make a big difference!

DL: What tips would you give to aspiring writers?

CR: What motivated me during this process was reading inspiring stories from other authors who achieved the goals I wanted to achieve. Success is not a secret; it’s a strategy. Once you unlock the right strategy for you, there’s nothing that you can’t accomplish. What you are looking for is most likely in a book and all you have to do is tap into it!

DL: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

CR: I’m a vegan so I love testing new recipes. I also love researching dividend stocks. I’m on a mission to have enough dividends to fund my lifestyle. I help others do the same through The Dividend InvestHER (https://wealthywomendaily.com/dividendqueens/). When I’m not doing those things or spending time with family, I love to travel and relax.

DL: Can you share an excerpt from How to Find Happiness Again?

CR: Sure, here you go:

Within days, it appeared that my entire life was cancelled. My travel adventures ceased. My income flow stopped. My relationships crashed. My health plummeted. My happiness disappeared!

And I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. The entire world seemed to be in disarray. By September 2020, COVID-19 had taken the lives of over 200,000 Americans. Coronavirus unemployment claims were the worst in history - exceeding 33 million Americans who were left jobless. Loneliness, depression, and lack of purpose were creeping into the thoughts of many Americans, including me. Human beings were born to interact with each other, never to be isolated, with all smiles hidden behind face masks, with little or no touching and having to stand six feet away from the nearest person.

The world was not the same. And neither was I. How could I find my happiness again? Best-selling author Denis Waitley once said, “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”

In order to find happiness again, I had to transform my thoughts and realize this: I didn’t need life to be a certain way in order to be happy. How often do we place our happiness in the hands of external circumstances? How often do we give up our power to be happy because things don’t look the way we planned?

DL: What new projects are you currently working on?

CR: More books! I’m on a journey to release a new book every month to build another source of portfolio income that pays my bills. There are also so many great insights I want to share with the world to help others get closer to financial freedom and building a life that is better than their dreams. I’m working on the paperback release of Debt Free Before Graduation and How to Build a Stock Portfolio That’s Bigger Than Your Shoe Collection

DL: Where can readers learn more about you and purchase your book(s)?
