Marc Clarke Presents: Words & Wine Event (Totally Cool Authors Mixer)

On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, I hung out with some really cool authors (LaDawn Black – Multimedia personality, Carlos Avent - Program Director, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore, Aaron Maybin – author of Art Activism, Charmel McMillian – President/CEO, Char-Town Entertainment, and Sean Yoes – AFRO Editor) at Spirits of Mt. Vernon in Baltimore. We were all a part of Marc Clarke Presents: Words & Wine where he tapped local authors to read and sell their books.

When I arrived, Marc was chilling in a corner playing some good music and introducing us authors as we walked into Spirits of Mt. Vernon. It was great to meet the man behind the voice back in the day on 92Q Big Phat Morning Show – Baltimore’s legendary hip hop and R&B radio station…missed those days.
I loved the laidback atmosphere that allowed us to meet, mix and mingle with each other and with readers looking to purchase the next book for their nightstand. It was great to see Victoria Adams-Kennedy who stopped by to show me some sisterly love!

Anyway, the owner, Vicki Schassler was very gracious in giving us samples of some of the wines she sells. In talking to her, I had no idea this spot had been on Charles Street for 15 years. Looking around I saw a wide variety of wines and liquors from the US and Europe. I was quite impressed with this neighborhood wine shop and would highly recommend it.
So, if you’re looking for wine tastings (FREE) or to host an event, don’t hesitate to check out this spot because it’s the place to be! https://www.spiritsofmtvernon.com/ Oh and you can tell Vicki that Author Dee Lawrence sent you.

And to Vicki: Thanks so much - I can’t wait to crack open my bottle of Cupcake Vineyards Moscato! Cheers!

I enjoy writing romantic mystery fiction. The idea for this particular novel just seemed to evolve organically from my imagination. Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult? I would have to say reading the Bible was influential. As far as regular books go, I’m a big fan of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Is this your first book? How long did it take to start and
